About The Folk tales of Koa

There is a long tradition of folk telling in every country of Koa. This book of thirty-two folk tales is a compilation of the only surviving pieces of a once great compendium. A collection of over one hundred books first compiled by the celebrated historian, Attrius of Amar. Its pages include tales from the snowy mountains of Aylis, the lakes and hills of Hallorn, the jungles of Ildra and the distant and mysterious lands of Kiashu.

The folk tales in this collection are mainly from the earliest times of Koa. The stories entitled, The First People of Koa, The Princess of the Eagren and the Birth of the Gods are perhaps the oldest tales in this compilation. But Several could be labelled modern folk tales and were written after The Great War. Their titles include The Baker and the Creaky Bridge and The Boy Who Liked to Sing.

In these times of sky ships and transport platforms, of books and the paper news the profession of the storyteller is a fading one and the stories they tell are in danger of becoming a thing of the past. A sign of the times when superstition was real and not a seldom used word. Many stories have been forgotten and this surviving compilation of Atrius’s compendium offers only a glimpse of a lost treasure. So, sit you down, draw closer to the fire and listen, for I have stories to tell.
